So, I moved to the burbs right after I had my first baby. I am into clothes. And shopping. And was so excited to dress up my little girl and play with sweet toys. I loved Sweet William and My Little Sunshine in the city and a lot of places I couldn’t afford but loved getting special pieces and just browsing was fun and and inspiring… And then all of a sudden, I moved to NJ and it was mall shopping. Not that I don’t shop at big stores (my daughter’s favorite dress is Old Navy and Zara kids is terrific). But all of a sudden it felt like the only options were chain stores and malls. People recommended Jack and Janie for something nice and I was like whaaaaaaa??? (not my style) – and I was all ihatenj.
And then, I found Murray & Finn. It’s a pretty children’s store with fantastic clothes and nice wooden toys and good design and the cutest owner, Erica Finnan. A few years ago, she got prego and had a baby and felt the same as me – why can’t I get good maternity & kids clothes out here – and decided to open up a shop. She has really great taste and is so fun to talk to. The shop carries my favorite kid’s clothing brands like Nico Nico, The Animals Observatory, Bobo Choses, and Soor Ploom so I can regularly go and drool over everything and now that I have a boy also there is a place I can make him look like he lives in Brooklyn even though he was born in the suburbs. Kidding sorta. Anyway, there are also cute maternity/nursing items and some toys + accessories sprinkled in. Sometimes she has fun workshops and kids photoshoots. And just really good vibes all around.
So…. this 100% falls into the just plain good. Not just good for New Jersey. And I thank my lucky stars that this store is around.
Here are some pics of the shop. And lovely Erica!
