If you are stopping by P A T R I Æ, which I wrote about earlier today, you must stop in AP Greenery. Or vice versa. They are a couple doors down from each other, and it has become one of my favorite plant places.
AP Greenery is run by Asbury locals Zachary Delacruz (pictured) and Antonio Pulgaron – a couple with a love for plants. It is a light and bright store dripping with plants galore. Some big, some small, a ton of exotic house plants. I fell in love with this huge aloe at my last visit, picked up a fern, and longed for the amazing monsteras. They have cut stems and can make bouquets and offer floral services and do events. Basically, the whole scene is very beautiful and they have a great aesthetic and visiting the shop makes me want to live in a green house. And while they are is way knowledgable about plants, they don’t take themselves so seriously. Like their slogan is “I JUST WET MY PLANTS”. I mean come on. So so good.
And AP Greenery is growing. They have branched out (no pun intended but I love it) to AP Interiors – which stays true to the established brand and aesthetic of AP Greenery. The two entities work together, covering interior and exterior design services. And soon, AP Nursery – a local Nursery and Greenhouse in downtown Asbury Park. They would potentially grow about a third of the cut stems they offer in the shop, house exotic plants, propagate plants, and offer “Plant Boarding” (housing your palm trees for the winter which is perfect so you can get the f out of NJ and go away somewhere warm and pick up your bigger and healthier plants the following summer).
AP Nursery is also starting workshops – on August 14th and 16th, they’ll be having a sip and plant terrarium party. In September, they are doing Orchids Aren’t Scary which is perfect for me because I am completely scared of orchids and find them beautiful.
The store also carries macrame plant hangers by local artists such as Steady Hand Creative (@steadyhandcreative_) and Jenni Deer (@jenni.deer) and Compass Rising Handcraft (@compassrisinghandcraft). And they also have these amazing, handmade from Amos (@a3desiiign) out of Brooklyn. All keeping within the AP Greenery look and feel and helping to escalate the store and product.
I don’t know. AP Greenery is just a really nicely curated plant store. It’s little and not overwhelming and Zach is super warm and open and helpful. He speaks about plants with love and affection and personality which of course I love. Go visit him and get some plants. Such such a good plant store, not just good for NJ.
Peace, Lauren xx
